The additions pump up the firm's planning and environment services group
A team of 13 has joined Russell Kennedy in Melbourne, significantly growing its planning and environment practice.
The new team includes principals David Vorchheimer and James Lofting, as well as special counsel Mark Bartley. They have handled matters involving planning, environment, water, land acquisition, property and roads.
Vorchheimer has a town planning background and specialises in planning, environment, building, local government and heritage law issues. He kicked off his legal career at Russell Kennedy before transitioning to a role with the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
He has appeared for developers, local and State government clients at VCAT, Planning Panels and Advisory Committees.
Lofting has practised in planning and environment law for over two decades in Victoria. He also brings experience from a stint in the UK and from working in-house.
He has tackled matters related to planning prosecutions and enforcement, policy development and administrative procedures. He has worked with both councils and private clients.
Bartley is an accredited specialist in environment and planning with over three decades of experience in the field. He focuses on local government and water law
The hires commence next month, and are in line with the firm’s strategy to grow its capability in government (local and state), infrastructure, education, health, insurance, renewables, and resource recovery – sectors which the firm identified as key industries.
“David, James and Mark are widely recognised as leading practitioners, bringing a wealth of experience to our growing team and adding depth and resources, further enhancing our client offering”, Russell Kennedy managing partner Paul Gleeson said.
