Angela Petros used to work with HSF, KWM and LexisNexis
Baker McKenzie has brought a new new chief marketing officer on board in Angela Petros.
Born in Australia but now working from New York, Petros comes to the firm with over two decades of experience working in legal. As the firm’s CMO, she will manage the firm’s global business development, marketing and communications function.
“As an Australian based in the US, holding a range of global leadership positions, she brings a global mindset and deep understanding of how key markets operate around the world, and we look forward to her leading our business development, marketing and communications function as the global economy continues to recover, generative AI really begins to impact our sector, and client needs are further driven by geopolitical complexity and regulatory scrutiny”, Baker McKenzie global chair Milton Cheng said.
Petros began her legal career as an associate with the firms that have since become Herbert Smith Freehills and King & Wood Mallesons. She then went on to fill senior marketing and strategy positions at LexisNexis, as well as a management consultancy role with the Boston Consulting Group.
Before making the jump to Baker McKenzie, Petros had been the CMO at Morrison & Foerster for eight and a half years. Baker McKenzie noted that she had concentrated on “growing revenue by building and strengthening key client relationships, adopting a digital first approach to marketing, and developing strong, integrated global business development, marketing and communications teams” in her recently held roles.
“As it enters its 75th year in 2024, Baker McKenzie holds a place in the global legal landscape that few can match, seamlessly delivering value to clients around the world through the combination of our global platform, deep local market knowledge, and industry leading expertise in an increasingly complex and unpredictable environment”, Petros said. “It is an extraordinary platform to build from and I am honoured to take up the role of CMO for this next phase of the firm’s journey”.
