The appointment continues a string of hires this month
Colin Biggers & Paisley (CBP) has continued its string of hires this month, this time bolstering its insurance practice with the appointment of a special counsel.
Philip Atkin has joined the firm’s insurance team in Melbourne, making the move from fellow national firm Moray & Agnew, where he rose to special counsel.
He brings to the firm extensive experience in managing building and construction disputes for clients that include managing building and construction disputes professional indemnity insurers, builders warranty insurers, builders, engineers, architects, building owners and property developers.
He regularly acts in private mediations and court-ordered alternative dispute resolution proceedings. He also has extensive experience in acting in building defects and property damage claims, building and construction law, and policy coverage issues.

Atkin will be working closely with partners Cathryn Prowse and Jonathan Newby, CBP said. The new special counsel said he is excited to join the firm because it has a strong reputation in both insurance and construction.
The appointment comes after CBP added two partners in Brisbane and in Sydney earlier this month.
