One of Corrs' five new partners will lead its tax controversy practice
Corrs Chambers Westgarth has scored big names from KPMG Law, Clayton Utz and Ashurst for its partnership.
Angelina Lagana headed up the tax controversy and dispute resolution team for Australia and APAC at KPMG Law. She has worked with large corporates, multinationals, and high-net-worth individuals on matters involving the full tax lifecycle, from ATO early engagement, reviews, audits, objections, settlement and litigation in the Federal Court and AAT.
At Corrs, she will head up the tax controversy practice once she commences later in the Melbourne office this year.
Lucy Terracall makes the jump from Clayton Utz later this year. The insurance specialist is knowledgeable on cyber risk-related matters, including the management of cyber risk via insurance, and has advised on large-scale disputes arising from class action-related insurance concerns.
Lucinda Hill kicked off her tenure with Corrs on 5 August after a stint leading Ashurst’s disputes practice in Melbourne. She focuses on complex commercial disputes, class actions, inquiries and Royal Commissions, and regulatory investigations and enforcement; moreover, she has considerable experience when it comes to class actions involving the law of penalties and consumer law issues, as well as commercial disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, audit and professional negligence concerns.
Like Lagana, Luke Imbriano also made the jump from KPMG Law, joining the tax controversy team on 6 August. He concentrates on income tax controversy and dispute resolution, particularly for large domestic and multinational private sector taxpayers in the real property and infrastructure sectors. He has guided taxpayers on infrastructure projects, including those in consortium roles.
Paul Sroka starts with Corrs next month, working with the banking and finance team. He led the Victoria arm of the Asia Pacific Loan Market Association for 10 years, and has worked with the Melbourne and Asian markets for over 25 years. He has tackled matters involving corporate finance, agri-finance, acquisition, real estate and project finance, and asset and structured finance.
“Angelina, Luke, Lucinda, Paul, and Lucy are all highly respected in their areas of expertise. Our clients will benefit from their significant experience, insights, and commercial capability, and the appointments will add considerable value to our Melbourne-based offering”, Corrs senior partner and CEO Gavin MacLaren said.
