Amber Warren shares her top three priorities once she officially steps into the position
Amber Warren made history earlier this month when she was announced as Dentons Australia’s incoming chair – the first woman to take on the role. In this interview, she tells Australasian Lawyer what the appointment means to her, and what her priorities will be as chair.
What was your reaction to learning that you were going to become Dentons Australia chair?
Immensely proud. I am passionate about Dentons and having the opportunity to lead it through a time of unprecedented change is a challenge that I am looking forward to.
You are going to be the first woman to hold that position – how does it feel to have such a historic feather in your cap?
I am very fortunate to work somewhere where gender is not a factor in professional progression. Having said that, I am excited to be a role model to our female lawyers and staff.
What aspect of this new role are you most excited about?
Dentons has been on an incredible growth journey over the past five years, and I’m excited to continue that growth. Lateral partners, our people and our clients are attracted by Dentons’ unique value proposition – which gives our clients access to unparalleled global reach, and our people and partners the opportunity to work with some of the world’s biggest brands.
What’s the biggest challenge you expect to face in the role?
AI and legal tech. The industry is increasingly adopting AI and legal tech to streamline routine tasks like document review, legal research, contract management, and even predictive analytics for case outcomes. While this offers significant efficiencies, it also creates challenges for law firms in terms of upskilling employees, managing the transition, managing risk and ensuring ethical use of technology.
What are your top three priorities for Dentons Australia in 2025, and how are you planning to make them happen?
