DLA Piper Africa now has a presence across all of the regions of the continent as it acquired firms in Senegal and Tunisia.
The global firm has acquired GENI & KEBE, which is based in Dakar, Senegal, and El Ajeri Lawyers, which is based in Tunis, Tunisia, after recently acquiring the firm Olajide Oyewole, which is based in Lagos, Nigeria. These most recent acquisitions mean DLA Piper now has a presence in 19 African countries.
“This is an important step for both our Paris and Casablanca offices, which have been at the forefront of establishing these relationships with our peers. With their inclusion, DLA Piper Africa now has a presence across all of the regions on the continent, from North to South and East to West, in all working languages,” said Michel Frieh, joint managing partner of DLA Piper’s Paris office.
GENI & KEBE, which was founded in 1912 and is one of the oldest law firms in sub-Saharan francophone Africa, has 27 lawyers and jurists. The team, which works on commercial law matters in advisory, litigation, and arbitration, is led by Mouhamed Kebe.
El Ajeri Lawyers, which was founded in 2000, is a full-service business law firm with 10 lawyers working in the manufacturing, IT, transport and logistics, energy, media, trade, banking and insurance, and government contracts sectors. The firm established by Mohamed Lotfi El Ajeri acts for clients in advisory and dispute resolution, specialising in arbitration.
