David Leggatt, a former dispute resolution expert at DLA Piper, has joined BlueRock as a director, bringing a team of two with him to bolster the multidisciplinary advisory firm’s legal offering.

“David has a wealth of legal knowledge and a network from his top-tier experience, and that expertise and mentorship ability will complement the growing legal team at BlueRock. Over the last 12 months, we have hired several senior lawyers to head up practice areas and David coming in will round out that offering to the client base”, said Paul Marsh, BlueRock Law managing director.

Leggatt spent 29 years at DLA Piper concentrating on dispute resolution and strategic advice before branching out to manage Coterminous Legal, his own practice concentrating on insurance. He also made investments into six companies, and served as director and GC.

He has worked with private clients, startups and SME businesses not just in Australia, but globally.

“The last four years, running my own practice and establishing a portfolio of businesses in the property, insurance and finance sector, have made it clear to me that success depends on having the right network and ready access to quality advice across a range of disciplines, particularly in relation to finance, accounting and technology,” Leggatt said. “I moved to BlueRock because this firm gets what clients need and it’s what I need, to help my businesses grow”.

Joining him are graduate lawyer Channen Miller and associate litigation lawyer Clarise D’Souza, who concentrates on construction law.

Recently, BlueRock also brought in Clementina Maione to head its family law division, as well as Rabia Javed-May to be its senior director of wills and estates. The firm confirmed its intent to extend its legal division beyond Melbourne.
