Former HWL Ebsworth partner Paul Lalich has joined K&L Gates, becoming the newest partner on its real estate team.

Lalich brings with him special counsel Andrew Scully and lawyer Madeleine Ryan, both members of his team. All three will work from K&L Gates’ Sydney office.

“Paul is a highly respected planning and environment lawyer who has worked on complex and high-profile transport, infrastructure, and urban release projects for large national and multinational clients”, said Sandra Steele, who leads the firm’s real estate practice. “We are excited to welcome Paul and his team to the firm. Their arrival will significantly enhance our comprehensive planning and environmental service offering to clients”.

Lalich brings over 25 years of experience in planning and environment law. He has advised government bodies, state-owned corporations, institutional investors, publicly listed REITs, private companies, and national and international transport and aviation companies.

He has tackled complex issues in the real estate, construction, infrastructure, and energy sectors. He has a background in Australian environmental, land use and zoning law, which he applies to provide guidance on regulatory approvals, compliance investigations and enforcement matters, pollution incident responses, and related litigation.

Lalich has also handled issues involving environmental compliance, climate change, rezoning, urban land releases, and significant domestic and international air, rail, and road infrastructure projects. He is the Legal Member of the NSW Architects Registration Board and joined the National Council of the Urban Land Institute Australia recently.

Prior to commencing with HWL Ebsworth, he was a partner at Allens.
