Global professional services giant Ernst & Young (EY) has added two new partners to its Australia legal team, the firm announced on Thursday.
Michelle Segaert will lead EY’s newly formed Australian financial services team, while Andrew Ball will take charge of the firm’s Australia employment practice. Both lawyers are industry veteran with over three decades’ experience in the legal field.
“In an environment increasingly categorised by rapid technological advancements and regulatory change, having a dedicated, multidisciplinary team in place is critical in assisting financial services clients with the complex challenges they are facing,” said EY Oceania financial services leader Graeme McKenzie.
For more than 15 years, Segaert has worked in financial services law in Australia and the UK, including senior in-house legal roles at a boutique investment bank and a listed ASX 100 financial institution. She advised clients on key areas of the industry such as regulation and regtech, corporate and trustee governance, corporate transactions, licensing regimes and investment fund formation, establishment and management.
Ball has 25 years’ experience in all areas of employment and workplace relations law. He will be advising clients on diverse aspects of employment law, from industrial relations to occupational health and safety.

He will complement our well-established New Zealand employment law offering and our people advisory services around remuneration and reward,” said Kirsty Keating, EY Oceania law leader.
