The Federal Court ruled today that Dallas Buyers downloaders will remain private.
An application by Dallas Buyers Club movie makers to force internet service providers to hand over the details of customers who illegally downloaded the film has been refused by the Federal Court.
The Federal Court today backed the internet service provider’s iiNet, Intermode, Adam Internet, Dodo, Wideband and Amnet Broadband, who successfully fought to keep the details of illegal downloaders private.
Nearly 5,000 people who illegally downloaded the film were told to expect letters demanding payment, the ABC reported.
More information on the court’s decision is expected to be released later in the day.
