Newcastle’s oldest law firm has welcomed back a well-known Novocastrian lawyer to the firm.

Jason Dunn, former Newcastle deputy lord mayor, has moved back to Baker Love, which he worked for from 2012 to 2014. At the firm, he will focus on his areas of expertise, including property law, estate planning, and commercial transactions.

Dunn said that his return is a way to give back to the city.

“Having been born and raised in Newcastle, I have a keen interest in contributing to the community. Re-joining Baker Love is an opportunity to give back to Newcastle in a professional capacity,” he said. “The history of Baker Love is closely linked with Newcastle’s own growth and development, and the firm will no doubt be a key partner for individuals and businesses in the region as the city transforms into an emerging global city.”

“Working with Baker Love will allow me to provide my clients with the best possible level of service. The depth of skills and experience within the firm has given Baker Love an outstanding reputation among Novocastrians. I am delighted to be working with such a talented group of people, and for a firm that has such strong links with the community,” he said.

The firm is committed to attracting leading professionals, and Dunn’s appointment is no exception, senior Baker Love partner Terry Morgan said.

“Jason’s legal career has seen him achieve excellent outcomes for his clients across a number of fields of law. Jason has an obvious passion for Newcastle and its development,” he said. “Jason’s understanding of local government, and the needs of local businesses, will be a great asset to our firm. He will be instrumental to the future of the firm as it grows and adapts to meet the changing needs of our client base.”

Dunn, who is a current Newcastle councillor, earned his law degree from the University of New England.
