Hall & Wilcox has established a public law specialist offering as part of its Commonwealth government practice.

The new offering will be spearheaded by newly appointed partners Nicola Johnson and Rohan White, who along with their team bring extensive Commonwealth experience. This team includes special counsel Sophie Roberts and Ada Wong, senior associate Arielle Zinn, and associates Alana Meaney and Michelle Harradine.

The lawyers are experts in government and administrative law, working with government agencies on administrative law litigation, decision-making challenges, privacy and public interest disclosure, FOI, debt recovery, and statutory interpretation. Their clients include the Department of Home Affairs, Services Australia, and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

The team has also undertaken solicitor advocacy before the AAT, Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, and Family Court. It has acted for the Commonwealth in high-profile coronial inquests and Royal Commissions.

"We are investing in growing our Commonwealth Government practice as part of a broader public sector and government practice that is committed to doing work that positively impacts our communities", Hall & Wilcox CEP Graydon Dowd said. “We are pleased with the appointment of Nicola, Rohan, and their team. We see opportunities for them to help us enhance our Commonwealth Government expertise and relationships”.

Dowd confirmed that plans were in place to bring in more Commonwealth government specialists.
