Highlight: 2023 Changemaker is a voice for compensation reform

Advantage Legal principal solicitor and managing director Leigh Davidson seeks to be a voice for compensation scheme reform to benefit his clients.

“There are unintended legislative issues and tribunal or court decisions that develop over time that can result in unfair outcomes for injured people or other compensation scheme stakeholders such as health providers”, he explained. “Advocating for change is part of making the compensation system better for anyone who needs it”.

The personal injury law specialist, who featured in Australasian Lawyer’s Most Influential Lawyers list as a Changemaker for the second year in a row, is an expert in the complexities of NSW statutory compensation schemes. He has played key roles in the moulding of amendments, guidelines and regulations that directly impact the NSW CTP and workers’ compensation schemes.

Davidson has made it a point to share his knowledge with legal professionals, health practitioners and injured people. He has also led the charge in implementing a highly personalised approach to personal injury law that focuses on clients’ treatment and rehabilitation.

“This approach helps us to get to know our clients and to advocate for the best possible result for them after an accident, both from a rehabilitation and compensation perspective”, he said. “It’s how we know that what we do makes a difference in the lives of injured people”.
