She brings with her two other lawyers
Regulatory and life sciences lawyer Mandi Jacobson has made the jump from Hogan Lovells to Thomson Geer as the latter’s newest partner.
She has assisted clients with registering pharmaceuticals and medical devices, clinical trials, recalls and product liability. Her regulatory experience encompasses food, cosmetics, electrical products, automobiles and defence products; she is also an expert in Australian consumer law.
Jacobson co-chairs the Medical Technology Association of Australia's Privacy Working Group and was ranked as a Band 3 life sciences lawyer by Chambers and Partners.
The new partner will operate from Sydney. She brings with her special counsel Danielle Kuti and associate Bonnie Liu.
A Thomson Geer team helped global metal mining company Fortescue Ltd. to complete a $254m off-market takeover of iron ore explorer Red Hawk Mining Ltd.
Fortescue gains access to Red Hawk's Blacksmith iron ore deposit in the deal, which received unanimous support from the Red Hawk board. The deposit is proximate to Fortescue's current operations in the Pilbara region, Thomson Geer said.
According to lead partners Scott Gibson and Michael Ng, the acquisition will see Fortescue “expand its access to iron ore reserves in the Pilbara”. The firm’s team assisted on all aspects of the transaction, including structuring, regulatory aspects, due diligence and execution.
Gibson and Ng received support from senior associate Kajal Parmar and lawyer Tom Coleman.
