Homegrown star soars to special counsel role at Sparke Helmore

Sparke Helmore has promoted homegrown star Stephanie Barclay to special counsel.

Barclay kicked off her legal career with the firm in 2012. She is part of the firm’s commercial insurance practice, and has been practising with the financial lines team since 2015.

She is a litigator concentrating on professional indemnity claims, financial lines, D&O matters, and class actions. She mainly represents lawyers in defending claims against them, with a particular focus on unmeritorious claims.

Barclay has also acted for other professionals in professional negligence matters and advised insurers on coverage concerns. She has conducted matters in the NSW Supreme Court.

“I’m proud to see the promotion of Stephanie to special counsel. She is an exceptionally talented lawyer, recognised as a leader in her field of law, and highly regarded by her clients. Stephanie’s promotion is testament to the hard work she has put in to reach this career milestone”, said Malcolm Cameron, Sparke Helmore’s financial lines national practice group leader.

Barclay took on the special counsel role on 1 July.
