For the first time, the firm made a pick from outside the UK
Kennedys US regional managing partner Meg Catalano has been announced as the firm’s new global managing partner.
She steps into the role on 1 November as the first global managing partner the firm has appointed from outside the UK. She will take on the strategic and operational management of all 48 Kennedys offices worldwide.
Catalano commenced with Kennedys in 2017 as a partner following the firm’s merger with Carroll McNulty & Kull (CMK). In addition to serving as US regional managing partner, she became part of Kennedys’ global strategy board and later on the firm’s five-person executive group.
She helped launch the firm’s Women’s Initiative in the US and has been a strong advocate for diversity leadership at Kennedys. As a lawyer, her practice focused on international insurance coverage and commercial litigation; she has advised corporate clients as well as domestic and international insurers on large claims losses and risk analysis.
“I am proud to be taking on this new role. When CMK first merged with Kennedys we had 1,700 people operating across 32 offices. Today, Kennedys has 2,900 people, operating across 48 offices in 21 countries. We have achieved so much, and I am honoured to help lead the firm through continued global growth to bring the firm’s vision and strategy to life, for our people and our clients,” Catalano said.
Catalano is set to relocate to London next year. Eric Hiller will succeed her as US regional managing partner, while Michael Hennessy becomes regional managing partner for LATAM and Caribbean.
