NRF guides Vestas on wind farm project

Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF) has provided guidance to sustainable energy solutions provider Vestas in relation to Stage 2 of the Golden Plains Wind Farm.

Stage 2 recently achieved financial close and construction has commenced. Vestas has teamed up with TagEnergy and project operator WestWind on the delivery of engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance.

“It has been a privilege to support Vestas on Stages 1 and 2 of this project since 2021. This builds on our long history of supporting Vestas on their projects in Australia”, NRF lead partner Luke van Grieken said. “We were also thrilled to see first-hand the impressive progress of the works of Stage 1 earlier this year, including the installation of their V162 wind turbines and balance of plant works”.

For Stage 1, Vestas is in the process of delivering the 756MW EPC contract. The next stage will generate an extra 1.3GW, resulting in total production of 1.3GW. As a result, the Golden Plains Wind Farm will become Vestas’ biggest onshore wind farm.

In combination with Stage 1, the project will feature 205 V162-6.2 MW wind turbines from the EnVentus platform. The NRF team advised on the Civil Balance of Plant contract with MPC Kinetic and the Electrical Balance of Plant contract with Consolidated Power Projects.

van Grieken worked together with partner Steven Choi, senior associate Lachlan Wood, associate Dylan Landgren, and lawyer Jayne Kelly on this transaction.
