Shearman & Sterling appoints new counsel of capital markets practice in Asia

Global law firm Shearman & Sterling has announced the appointment of Terrence O’Donnell as counsel of its capital markets practice in Asia.

O’Donnell’s practice focuses on equity and debt capital markets, M&A, and private equity transactions. He has extensive experience advising companies in China and Southeast Asia across a wide range of sectors – including technology, media and telecommunications, financial services, healthcare, energy, consumer products and real estate.

Having spent over 10 years in Hong Kong, O’Donnell will initially be based in the firm’s Hong Kong office before relocating to Singapore later in the year.

“We are delighted to welcome Terry to our team,” said Won Lee, head of Shearman & Sterling's Asia Capital Markets practice. “Terry is a great lawyer, highly experienced in IPOs, high yield bonds and mergers & acquisitions and private equity transactions. Terry will strengthen our service capability in Southeast Asia and China.”

The appointment follows Shearman & Sterling’s strong momentum of recent deal activity in Asia, including advising on securities offerings by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited, PT Lestari Banten Energi, and Mongolia Mining Corporation and Energy Resources.
