A law firm is reported to be financing a tailored legal offering for start-ups, in a bid to get closer to the present and future of Australia’s bourgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Australian reports Corrs Chambers Westgarth is bankrolling a new specialist legal service for entrepreneurs called CorrsEdge, in line with previous moves to support local start-ups.
The service will give cash poor start-ups access to experienced lawyers as well as Corrs’ own Smart Platform, which helps start-ups flag and deal with their nascent legal requirements.
According to The Australian, the platform includes access to 30 legal documents across areas including employment law, IP protection, fundraisings and day-to-day legal and compliance.
Partner Jonathan Farrer told the paper the offering was ‘compelling’ for start-ups given it provides user-friendly legal documents as well as the backing of a law firm like Corrs.
Farrer stated that the firm has already gained feedback from start-up clients that had made use of CorrsEdge and that capital raisings had been completed using the platform.
Through the platform, start-ups can create bespoke legal documents, and downloadable guides are provided to help start-up teams understand these documents and when they are needed.
