Corrs Chambers Westgarth has added seasoned investigations and white-collar defence lawyer Caroline Marshall to the partnership.

Marshall will join the investigations and inquiries practice group in Sydney on 23 September, bringing years of experience from her work in London and Hong Kong.

“Caroline’s practice covers the full regulatory lifecycle, from regulatory reform to regulatory strategy, compliance, investigations, enforcement and remediation. She is an accomplished practitioner who is well regarded for her technical legal ability and strong relationships”, Corrs senior partner and CEO Gavin MacLaren said.

Marshall has acted for corporations and individuals in major regulatory investigations and inquiries domestically and internationally. She has represented clients in Royal Commissions and inquiries, as well as regulatory enforcement by AUSTRAC, APRA, and ASIC.

She has tackled matters involving bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions, and tax fraud. She has also handled governance, remediation, and compliance issues.

While in London and Hong Kong, Marshall worked on anti-corruption, fraud, and sanctions investigations brought by the US Department of Justice, US Securities and Exchange Commission, US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and the UK Serious Fraud Office.

The appointment of Marshall continues the roll Corrs has been on when it comes to lateral hires – last month, the firm welcomed lawyers from KPMG Law, Clayton Utz and Ashurst.
