Hall & Wilcox expands commercial and estates practice with new partner

Hall & Wilcox has announced the appointment of partner and litigation lawyer McLane Edinger and his team to the firm’s Perth office.

Edinger’s practice encompasses private client and estate disputes, including contested wills and estates, estate and trust disputes, superannuation disputes, guardianship and administration and elder disputes. He has likewise advised clients on general commercial disputes and insolvency cases. Edinger has also acted on several large-scale and high-profile estate disputes in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the Court of Appeal, including multi-jurisdictional estates.

Edinger’s experience also includes advising trustees or beneficiaries on all facets of trust administration, including the exercise of trustee discretion and bringing or defending claims against a trust or trustee.

Joining Edinger in the firm’s Perth office are lawyers Casey Bombara, Sophia Aguasa and Daniel Nugawela, as well as paralegal Alex Crowhurst. The new hires will expand Hall & Wilcox’s commercial practice, national private clients, and estates practice in WA.

Managing partner Tony Macvean said Edinger’s appointment continues the strong growth of the firm’s commercial practice in the WA market.

“McLane’s appointment also bolsters our market-leading national private clients practice. Estate and trust disputes are a growing part of this practice, and we think that McLane can play a leadership role in this practice nationally”, Macvean said.

The firm also announced that special counsel Janene Bon has joined the Perth private clients practice, while special counsel Laura Hanrahan has joined the Brisbane private clients practice. Bon and Hanrahan are experienced wills and estate lawyers. They have expertise in succession planning, trusts, superannuation, incapacity, estate administration and family and business succession.
