Joining the firm are two senior partners, nine lawyers and five paralegals from Woods Prince Lawyers
Sparke Helmore has announced a merger with Woods Prince Lawyers (WPL), which will see Sparke Helmore’s corporate and commercial practice group more than double in size.
The WPL team moved to Sparke Helmore’s corporate and commercial team on 31 March. Sparke Helmore said in a media release that this merger will make its presence more prominent in Brisbane and make it one of the biggest law firms across Queensland.
Following the merger, Sparke Helmore will have 18 partners and nearly 140 lawyers and legal support staff members. Sparke Helmore national managing partner Andrew White said that WPL’s values were aligned with Spark Helmore’s.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our firm to merge with a well-established national firm that is committed to a strong local presence”, WPL outgoing managing director Heather Beckingsale said.
Beckingsale switches to Sparke Helmore along with fellow senior partner Aston Joppich. Also joining them are consultant Matthew Woods; special counsel Brendan Ezzy and Rebecca O’Loan; senior associate Marjorie Toledo; associates Jacob Lobban and Marcus Malouf; and lawyers Andrew Patterson, Gabryel McNamara, and Michelé Du Buisson.
As a specialist corporate and commercial law firm, WPL focused on commercial law, property law, M&A, general contract arrangements, trademarks and other intellectual property, franchise arrangements, wills and estate planning, and commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
