Maddocks has shared that members of its Melbourne employment team – Lindy Richardson, employment partner; Kirsten Sullivan, senior associate; and Emily Fyffe, lawyer – received the President’s Award for Outstanding Service at this year’s Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) Legal Awards.

According to the firm, this is the first time the LIV’s honours have recognised a team.

The award has distinguished the team members for their pro bono work on negotiating a new multi-employer or multi-enterprise agreement on behalf of Victorian Community Legal Centres (CLCs).

“We feel truly honoured to have received this recognition – this was a significant and complex pro bono matter that began in 2021, and made a tangible difference to all the legal centres involved and we hope for the entire Victorian community legal centre sector,” Richardson commented in the firm’s media release.

The team helped in improving employee entitlements, which the Fair Work Commission approved this year, the firm’s media release said. The team’s work here was one of many pro bono matters that Maddocks undertook over the last year, the firm’s media release added.

“This award is testament to the firm’s focus on pro bono and supporting us on this important project,” Richardson said in the firm’s media release.

The President’s Award for Outstanding Service – bestowed to the Maddocks team at a special ceremony in Melbourne on the night of 15 October – seeks to recognise an outstanding contribution over and above what might reasonably be expected through voluntary service.
