Maddocks expands planning and environment team with new partner

Maddocks has expanded its planning and environment practice with the addition of Dr. Joseph Monaghan as a new partner in its Melbourne office.

A specialist in planning and environment law, Monaghan brings over a decade of experience from his previous role at Holding Redlich, where he handled significant cases for state and local governments in Victoria.

His expertise spans advocacy before government panels, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), and compulsory acquisition-related litigation.

"Joseph’s appointment is testament to the continued strength of Maddocks’ government practice and its leading reputation. To attract a partner of Joseph’s calibre will only add to the depth of our practice and the continued strong relationship we have with our government clients,” Maddocks CEO David Newman said.

"Joseph will be instrumental in building our offering across strategic areas of law for the Victorian state and local governments, and Maddocks’ continued focus on this important sector," Maddocks senior partner Maria Marshall said.

Monaghan will be joined by a team that includes special counsel Tess Kerridge, associate Christopher Watt, and lawyer Jess Critchley-Roy.

" Maddocks is a firm that is admired by many for its dedication to the government sector. With strength in its practices which have serviced the government for over 100 years, as well as its market-leading legal process management systems and a strong focus on client service, it is a firm I am excited to be a part of,” Monaghan said.
