Joining Sarah Barker is an environmental lawyer who will become an executive director
Sarah Barker, the global head of climate and sustainability risk governance at MinterEllison, has made the jump to investment and advisory firm Pollination.
Barker brings with her a team that includes environmental lawyer Phoebe Roberts. Roberts is set to be an executive director at Pollination.
Co-founder and CEO Martijn Wilder highlighted Barker’s 25 years of experience in corporate law. In particular, Barker has expertise in handling matters involving directors’ duties, misleading disclosure, climate change and sustainability.
She has guided major corporations, banks, super and investment funds. Moreover, she co-chairs the World Economic Forum’s climate governance community of experts and has served as a non-executive director of the emergency services and state super fund of the Victoria state government.
“When I started working in the area of climate risk and governance it was not really considered a mainstream area of corporations law. That has now changed to the point where it is an unavoidable necessity”, Barker said, adding that she was eager to assist clients on matters related to reporting and disclosure, contract implications and other areas “where climate and law intersect”.
