The new partner will help drive the firm's global ambitions in technology and cybersecurity
Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has welcomed into its partnership Cameron Whittfield, head of PwC Australia’s cybersecurity and digital trust team.
Whittfield, who takes on his new role in March, will help drive the firm’s global ambitions in the technology, cyber security and digital space. He is the second partner to join HSF’s technology arm in Australia this year.
A partner at PwC Australia, Whittfield is also the national lead and TMT industry head of the firm’s digital and technology law team and Global Legal Network. As a technology law expert, he has advised international clients on emerging technology, cyber security, technology and telecommunications reform and other technology-related legal issues.
“I’m thrilled to have Cameron joining our team,” HSF corporate managing partner Carolyn Pugsley said. “He is a renowned technology expert with over 25 years of experience advising clients on digital and technology issues, including cyber security, data governance, crisis management and technology M&A and disputes.”
Before joining PwC, Whittfield helped establish Gilbert + Tobin, where he was a partner for seven years. Moreover, he was a senior lawyer at Freehills prior to its merger with Herbert Smith.
“I’m absolutely delighted to return to Herbert Smith Freehills, to help the firm and its clients successfully navigate the complexities and opportunities that arise in a changing digital economy,” he said.
