Chapman Tripp has promoted 10 lawyers across its Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch offices to senior associate.

Michael Cardy, Julia Carrington, Laura Green, Tanzam Hossain, Sarah Kettani, Hossein Mehrabi, Rachel Robilliard, Sam Steven, Conor Tinker and Lucia Tolich stepped into their new roles on 1 June.

Cardy is part of the property and real estate team in Auckland. He specialises in commercial property and has advised domestic and international clients on complex property acquisitions, disposals and leasing. He also brings a background working in venture capital.

Carrington works from Christchurch with the corporate and commercial team. She is a specialist in M&A, private equity and securities law. She has provided guidance on capital raisings, joint ventures and corporate governance matters.

Green is based in Wellington. She specialises in competition, regulatory, and international law, advising on regulatory compliance concerns like sanctions. She has worked with the Commerce Commission on investigations, merger clearances and market studies; moreover, she has recorded stints with NATO and the UN.

Hossain is part of the Auckland litigation and dispute resolution team. She focuses on employment law and health and safety, assisting clients on contentious and non-contentious issues. She has represented employers in health and safety investigations, WorkSafe prosecutions, and coronial inquests. Hossain has appeared before the Employment Relations Authority and the Employment Court, and has also acted for clients in MBIE mediations.

Kettani is based in Wellington. She concentrates on commercial litigation, with a particular interest in complex litigation, insurance law, competition and class actions. She has worked across Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.

Mehrabi is a registered Trans-Tasman patent attorney on the Auckland patents team. He has advised on matters involving medical devices and electrical/electronic engineering-related innovations. He has drafted and prosecuted patent applications, and has provided guidance on patentability, freedom to operate, infringement and invalidity matters.

Robilliard, based in Christchurch, is part of the environmental, planning and resource management team and of Te Waka Ture, the firm's Māori legal group. She has tackled issues involving major developments, infrastructure, contaminated land, hazardous substances, Māori resource management, local government processes, and water and nutrient management. She has served as counsel before the Environment Court and Supreme Court.

Steven works with the Christchurch corporate and commercial team, focusing in particular on construction and finance. He has assisted on matters involving restructuring, insolvency, commercial contracting, M&A, and general commercial law.

Tinker is part of the Auckland tax team. He has tackled issues related to banking and finance, M&A, trusts, property and GST. He has worked with listed companies, banks, private equity, high net worth individuals, and not-for-profits.

Tolich is part of the Auckland property and real estate team. She has assisted on complex commercial property transactions, substantial residential and commercial developments, acquisitions, disposals, and subdivisions, including unit title developments and leasing.
