To be considered, nominees need to have worked in an in-house legal role for at least five years and be able to demonstrate a solid track record of achievement in their careers to date.

“Being recognised externally is part of improving the visibility of in-house counsel, and enables me to pursue my ambition to change the industry. I use my platform to show others it’s not only OK to prioritise wellbeing over productivity, but it is actually the only way to have a sustainable career. Working smarter means doing less and leaving space—for me, that next step forward when dealing with a complex problem is often arrived at while out walking the dog, and rarely if ever behind a screen after nine hours of ‘work’,” said 2019 In-House Leader Hayley Cassidy, chief general counsel (CLO) at BNZ.

The in-house counsel who stand out as the best will be featured in the In-House Leaders 2020 report to be published on the NZ Lawyer website and newsletter in October.

The deadline for nominations is Friday.
