Move comes weeks after the firm increased NQ pay to £100,000
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has another treat for its young staff.
The Magic Circle firm has increased its maintenance grant to future trainees completing their GDL to £10,000. That’s a £2,750 increase in the package, the Law Society Gazette reported.
The move comes after the firm hiked its pay package for newly qualified lawyers to £100,000, becoming the first of the Magic Circle firms to surpass the threshold.
The bigger grant also comes after Clifford Chance increased its own maintenance-grant offer to £10,000 earlier this year.
“We are committed to recruiting and retaining the very best talent in the market and invest in our people at every step of their career with the firm,” said Craig Montgomery, trainee development partner.
Recently, Shearman & Sterling increased its NQ pay by 14% to £120,000.
