For allegedly being part of a meth supply ring run out of Manawatu Prison, the 69-year-old woman could be jailed for life

Justice of the Peace denies meth ring involvement
A Justice of the Peace who’s accused of being involved in a methamphetamine supply ring has pleaded not guilty.

Marlene Dorothy Taylor entered her plea at the Palmerston North District Court, denying involvement in a drug supply ring allegedly run out of Manawatu Prison, Stuff reported.

If found guilty, the 69-year-old could spend the rest of her life in jail.

Taylor, along with Debralee Ann Holland, Madie Sarah Treru, Kimberley Sarah Meihana, Zion Cody Kingston Pene and Brian Paul Taylor, was arrested in December.

Taylor, Holland and Treru all entered not guilty pleas while Meihana, Kingston and Brian Paul Taylor are expected to enter pleas at their next appearance in February.

Authorities are said to have found evidence inmate Brian Paul Taylor was directing the supply and sale of the drug.

At a hearing in December, one of Marlene Dorothy Taylor‘s family members reportedly yelled in open court that the senior cannot go to jail because she is a JP (Justice of the Peace).

The two Taylors and Pene also face a charge of supplying cannabis. Pene is also charged with possession of a .22 rifle while Holland is also charged with possession of 14-gauge shotgun rounds.
