Lighter Side: London law partner busts out dance moves in NHS protest music video

A partner at a medical negligence law firm in London has stood up and danced in solidarity with junior doctors protesting the planned National Health Service contract in England.

In a video titled “Stand Up” which features Dr. Rishi Dhir, an orthopaedic registrar and vocal critic of the new contract, Peter Stefanovic, a partner at London law firm Simpson Millar, moonlights as one of the backup dancers.

According to Legal Cheek, which first noticed the Legal 500 lawyer “shaking it all about” in the music video, this is not the first time Stefanovic has publicly supported the cause of junior NHS doctors.

In April, a video of the lawyer speaking on the new contract at a protest in Newcastle went viral.

The contract, which the government has vowed to impose on junior doctors, is the subject of an “increasingly fraught dispute” between ministers and junior doctors in England, according to the BBC. Scotland and Wales are keeping their existing contracts and Northern Ireland is still to make a decision.

Stefanovic, a medical negligence law specialist with particular experience in cerebral palsy claims, has been a solicitor from 1991 and joined Simpson Millar as partner in 2006.

The proceeds from the song, available on iTunes, will be donated to charity.
