51 new partners for international firm; 12 in Asia-Pac
The latest round of partner promotions has been announced at Norton Rose Fulbright and is the largest since the combined firm was created in 2013. There are 51 new partners, 12 are in Asia-Pac and 19 are women. In Australia the new partners are: Marshall Bromwich – corporate, M&A and securities – in Brisbane; Ben Smits and Fiona Wallwork – corporate, M&A and securities – in Sydney; and Tom Martin – occupational health, safety and security – in Perth. In the rest of the region there are promotions for: Tassanai Kiratisountorn – banking and finance – in Bangkok; Nicky Davies, Vicky Jones and Kate Sherrard – banking and finance – in Singapore; James Parker and Allan Yee – corporate M&A and securities – in Hong Kong; and Craig Loveless and Stephen Woods - corporate, M&A and securities – in Singapore.
Two new partners for Linklaters in Asia-Pac
Linklaters has announced its promotions round with 23 lawyers added to the partnership. Most are in Europe and in Asia-Pac there are just two; Gilbert Li – Corporate – in Shanghai; and Eriko Sakata – IMG/Financial Regulation Group - in Tokyo.
Singapore graduate now head of Lathams in London
Latham Watkins has appointed a new head of its London office. Finance partner Jayanthi Sadanandan, who joined from White & Case five years ago, replaces Nick Cline in the role and will be assisted by Catherine Drinnan as deputy. Sadanandan graduated from the National University of Singapore and studied law at Harvard Law School.
Redundancies at international law firm
International law firm Ince & Co has announced redundancies in its London office. The firm, which last week appointed two new senior lawyers in Hong Kong and China together with three new partners in London, has lost six partners and is making some structural changes to its secretarial team which will result in the loss of 10 jobs.
EY boosts Indian team with 150 hires
Ernst & Young (EY) has hired 150 lawyers in India for a new e-Discovery team as part of its forensics division. The new team will provide support to law firms. It brings the size of the forensics arm of the firm to around 750 lawyers. No legal advice will be given by the lawyers in line with Indian law which prohibits auditing and legal services to be operated together.
