More promotions for Australian lawyers
After yesterday’s news of 27 promotions for lawyers at Allens, today brings news of 25 promotions at Norton Rose Fulbright’s Australian offices. There are 13 new special counsel and 12 new senior associates, 17 of them are women. The promotions are across banking and finance, corporate, M&A and securities, knowledge, and dispute resolution and litigation practice areas in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

Formal alliance for HFW in Singapore
Holman Fenwick Willan has announced a formal law alliance between its Singapore office and local firm AsiaLegal LLC. The alliance is operating under the name HFW AsiaLegal and will offer expertise on both English law and permitted Singaporean law. HFW has a 30-year history in Asia-Pac and opened the Singapore office in 1990.
 
New chairman for Corrs 
Corrs Chambers Westgarth has elected partner Stephen Price as the chairman of its board for a four-year term effective June 28th. Price has been with the firm for more than two decades and has been a board member since 2011. He has also been partner in charge at Corr’s Sydney office. He succeeds former Corrs partner, Teresa Handicott, who recently retired from the partnership after 27 year career in the legal profession at Corrs.
 
Baker & McKenzie appoints new global trade & commerce head
Baker & McKenzie has named Stockholm partner Mattias Hedwall as the new leader of its 450-lawyer global trade & commerce group. Hedwall is an international commercial specialist and takes over the role from Washington-based Nick Coward.
