Kensington Swan has promoted Henry Brandts-Giesen to the partnership and has given him a new role.
He returned to New Zealand in 2016 after ten years at Mourant Ozannes in Jersey, Channel Islands. Mourant Ozannes – which has a presence in the UK, Hong Kong, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Jersey, and Guernsey – is an offshore law firm that specialises in private wealth management.
Brandts-Giesen has also been tasked to lead the firm’s private wealth practice, as former partner Tim MacAvoy transitions into a consulting role with the firm. Kensington Swan’s private wealth practice advises private clients, families, professional trustees, other law firms, banks, accountants, and financial institutions on a wide range of matters, including succession planning, trust governance, dispute resolution between family members, and trustees’ and directors’ compliance.
Brandts-Giesen, who started his career at Kensington Swan in 2001, has a practice that covers family trusts, offshore trusts, residency by investment, estate planning, relationship property agreements, collective investment schemes, unit trusts, superannuation, employee share schemes, and regulatory compliance schemes, which include FATCA, AEOI, and AML/CFT.
