Independent probe expected to be swift
Russell McVeagh has confirmed a probe into one of its partners.
The independent investigation, which it said is underway, looks into a complaint about a partner making inappropriate comments under the influence of alcohol while attending a client event.
Chairman Malcolm Crotty confirmed that the unnamed partner has been restricted from the workplace pending the findings of the investigation.
“The seriousness with which we are treating this investigation confirms our commitment to building a culture of trust and transparency. Everyone in the organisation knows what is expected of them and we will not tolerate any inappropriate behaviour,” he said.
“We expect to make a more detailed statement following the outcome of the investigation in the next 10 working days,” he said.
The firm confirming the independent probe comes on the heels of its appointment of Jo Avenell as chief executive, commencing on 23 October.
The appointment of the seasoned change management and transformation executive comes as the top-tier firm steps up its transformation efforts after a hard-hitting inquiry by Dame Margaret Bazley found a work-hard, play-hard culture that involved “excessive drinking and in some instances, crude, drunken, and sexually inappropriate behaviour.”
