Steven Rollo, a Christchurch criminal defence lawyer renowned for defending gang members, has denied the drugs and failing to provide details charges
brought against him.
Rollo entered not guilty pleas for both charges and was granted a registrar's remand at Christchurch District Court without having to appear before a judge, a report from
NZHerald noted.
The lawyer was allegedly caught with a small quantity of methamphetamine on July 1 and he also supposedly failed or refused to give police his full name and address.
Rollo, who’s lawyer is Tom Stevens, must appear in court on September 6 for a case review hearing.
The Christchurch lawyer is known for his work defending New Zealand gang members, including members of the Red Devils gang in Nelson in the trials stemming from the Operation Explorer undercover investigation and members of the Hells Angels gang in a case opposing a ban on patches.
