Top-tier law firm to move to new premises

The law firm will move in 2019 when the marquee tower in Auckland is completed.

MinterEllisonRuddWatts has announced that the firm will be moving to Commercial Bay in 2019.

The announcement of the new Auckland premises of the law firm comes from CEO Mike Schubert who said that the move is a way for the firm to go to the next level.

“A key focus for MinterEllisonRuddWatts is being the best firm for our clients to work with and for our people to work in. With changes in the market presenting new opportunities, we are continuously looking at ways to take the firm to the next level,” Schubert said.

The building, part of a new Auckland precinct created just for the project, will be a destination for retail, food, entertainment, commerce and transportation. The project is owned by Precinct Properties.

“Creating the best environment in which our clients and staff can collaborate is an important step. We are therefore excited to know we will be moving our Auckland team to Commercial Bay, a new space that provides us with an opportunity to explore new ways of working that improve our culture and efficiency and enhance the services we provide our clients,” Schubert said.

“Optimising our new environment to enable new ways of working that do this will therefore be our key objective.”

The building, headlined by anchor tenant PricewaterhouseCoopers, will house a 10,000 people working population. The whole project will see Precinct Properties own $1.5 billion of properties.

For its part, Minter Ellison says their old premises served them well but that they are moving to keep up with their growth.

“We have been in the Lumley Centre for 11 years. The space has served us well to date, but our growth has led us to look again at our options,” said Schubert.

“After an extensive review of our options we have determined that moving to new Auckland premises will provide an opportunity to enable ways of working that improve efficiency and further enhance our culture.”
