Layton Ward and Creon Upton have made partner at Canterbury firm Malley & Co, reported the NZ Law Society.

Ward’s practice focuses on commercial, property, and trusts law. In particular, he concentrates on matters involving business, property, finance, trusts, and asset structuring.

Before commencing with Malley & Co in July 2020, he practised in London, working with high-net-worth individuals on large-scale residential developments.

A seasoned commercial and civil litigator, Upton has appeared before all levels of New Zealand courts, as well as the Waitangi Tribunal.

He is an expert in contentious estate matters, relationship property and trust matters, and commercial contractual disputes. Moreover, he logged a five-year stint at LeeSalmonLong before transitioning to Malley & Co.

Ward and Upton will work with existing partners Chantal Morkel, Simon Price, Dominic Fitchett, Pip Allan and Patrick Costelloe.

Next month, Malley & Co will also relocate its Christchurch base to Level 1 of The Regent at 33 Cathedral Square.
