The senior lawyer returned to NZ earlier this year for family reasons
A New York-headquartered international firm has taken its new Oman managing partner from New Zealand.
Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle appointed Simon Ward as its managing partner in the Sultanate of Oman. Ward returns to the firm after moving back to New Zealand earlier this year because of family reasons.
Before his departure, he was the firm’s head of disputes in Oman. He has more than a decade of experience in the region and was admitted to practice as an arbitrator of the Oman Court of Appeal in 2011.
His practice covers both Omani law and international arbitration. He has also acted in commercial, construction, regulatory, health and safety, environment and employment litigation.
Ward is admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
Curtis, which has 17 offices around the world, has more than 300 lawyers, according to The American Lawyer. It last reported revenues of US$155m and profit per equity partner of US$1.08m.
