The highly successful Women in Law Summit returns to Auckland this September
The Women in Law Summit is returning to Auckland on 25 September and will be bringing together some of New Zealand’s top women legal professionals to share their insights on how to get to the top.
“The end of 2017 was a flurry of stories making the news around the #metoo hashtag – and the legal profession did not escape scrutiny,” says Emma Marrett, event manager.
“So, it’s fair to ask: how far has the profession come from the days of the old boys’ club? We wanted to bring together some really strong women leaders who have smashed the glass ceiling in the profession, so that those coming through have role models to look up to.”
International fashion designer Karen Walker headlines the event, sharing her inspirational story of making it to the top of her industry.
Other speakers at the Summit this year, include heads of major NZ law firms such as Bell Gully, Simpson Grierson, Russell McVeagh, Kensington Swan, and MinterEllisonRuddWatts. Comprising a mix of presentations and panel discussions, they will discuss the brain drain as women leave the profession, change coming from clients who demand minimum diversity standards, champions of change, eradicating sexual harassment in the law, and changing the future.
