The corporate law specialist moved from an offshore law firm
Withers has boosted its team in Hong Kong with a new partner from an offshore law firm.
Junko Pitt (Shiokawa) has joined the firm from the Hong Kong office of Harney Westwood & Riegels, where she was also a partner for nearly four years.
She was also previously a bengoshi at what became Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu, an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell, a director at Barclays, and a registered foreign lawyer at Conyers Dill & Pearman.
Pitt specialises in investment funds, corporate, and private clients. She has extensive experience acting as lead counsel for Japanese and other Asian financial institutions and investment managers in the structuring and formation of various funds, Withers said.
She is also experienced in Hong Kong IPOs and financing transactions of both private and public companies. At Withers, she will continue to focus on Japanese private-client matters, including cross-border succession planning and divorce.
“Her significant experience and knowledge of the investment funds space will be a great addition to Withers' expanding corporate practice. With the addition of Junko, we will strengthen our commitment to global clients operating in Asia, as well as to local clients who are seeking to invest abroad,” said Mabel Lui, who heads the Greater China practice at Withers.
