Wynn Williams fields fresh partner in NZ Warriors sale

Wynn Williams has fielded its corporate advisory team to advise on the sale of the New Zealand Warriors.

The firm acted for New Zealand Warriors Limited, which owns the Vodafone Warriors, in the sale of the club to a consortium.

Partner Nick Kovacevich, who was promoted to partner in January, led the Wynn Williams team, which advised on the competitive sale process.

The consortium that won was formed by the Carlaw Heritage Trust, and arm of Auckland Rugby League, and Autex Industries, a longstanding supporter of rugby league in New Zealand.

Carlaw and Autex won over other bidders, including an American group led by Hawaiian politician Richard Fale. Carlaw acquired a 67% stake in the team, with the remaining shareholdings going to Autex.
