Young gun takes home $1500

The winner of an award sponsored by a top tier NZ firm has been announced.

University of Auckland law student Richard Monigatti has won this year’s Simpson Grierson Employment Law prize.

The award recognises the student with the top overall mark in the University’s employment law class, and comes with a $1,500 reward.

"We are delighted to support the future career of talented people like Richard,” said Phillipa Muir, who heads Simpson Grierson’s employment law team and who handed over the cheque last Friday.

“The University of Auckland continues to produce first class students who contribute greatly to the field of employment law."

Monigatti said winning the prize showed his passion translated into excellence.

“I thank Simpson Grierson for the opportunity and their overall support of my professional growth."

Simpson Grierson has been sponsoring the University of Auckland's Employment Law Prize since 2004.

Last year’s Employment Law Prize winner was Maria Bialostocki, who developed her interest in employment law during her studies.
