The newly promoted lawyers cover the firm’s Brisbane and Sydney office, with the most senior coming from the insurance and risk practice groups
DibbsBarker is welcoming its new financial year with the promotion of 10 lawyers effective 1 July.
Angela Brookes, who specialises in insurance, joins the partnership nine years after she joined the firm’s Brisbane office. With a focus on workers compensation, public liability, and product liability, Brookes acts for state, national, and international insurers, self-insurers, and large corporates. Also an expert in personal injury and product liability litigation, she acts in settlements, mediations, and coronial inquests for international organisations on matters concerning product liability under Australian consumer law. She also drafts and advises on codes of practice and policies with insurance implications.
DibbsBarker has also promoted Louise Ridley and Bettina Sorbello in Brisbane, and Peppy Mitchell in Sydney, to special counsel. Ridley is focused on the defence of worker compensation claims and has in-house experience at two major insurers. Sorbello is an expert in insurance defence, with a focus on workers compensation and product liability. Mitchell specialises in risk management, a sought-after area of expertise with all sectors facing increased risk.
In Sydney, the firm has also promoted Alexandra Henderson, part of the firm’s real estate and construction team, and Clare Kerley, who’s with the firm’s people and workplace practice, to senior associates.
