Deloitte snatches up stake in PwC Indigenous Consulting with advice from JWS

Johnson Winter Slattery (JWS) has served as external legal counsel to Deloitte as the Big Four firm acquired PwC Australia’s interest in PwC Indigenous Consulting.

The business will be rebranded to Yamagigu Consulting Pty Limited, which reflects its partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. The Supply Nation-certified business is co-owned by Indigenous-owned corporate and governance structures.

The JWS team provided guidance on the shareholder and governance structures. Corporate partner Andrew Williams took point on the deal with support from special counsel Kate Naude and David Li as well as from associate Thulasie Venkat.

“This represents an important step in Deloitte’s engagement and consulting work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We look forward to seeing the continued growth and partnership between Deloitte and the Yamagigu Consulting team in effecting meaningful change that creates greater prosperity and wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities Australia wide”, Williams said.

New special counsel

JWS also welcomed Louise Farinotti as a new special counsel on its national real estate team.

Farinotti focuses on commercial, industrial and retail leasing, acquisitions and divestments. She has worked on real estate legal matters as both a private practitioner and an in-house lawyer for over 15 years.
