The firm assisted Bluestone over a year in which public securitisations raised more than $3bn
Clayton Utz closed out 2024 by confirming its roles in two deals involving Bluestone Home Loans and Sumitomo Corporation.
The firm represented Bluestone over a “record” year in which public securitisations raised more than $3bn. In particular, Clayton Utz’s team handled the Sapphire, Prime and Turquoise securitisation programmes, which included the Sapphire XXIX Series 2024-1 Trust, the Bluestone Prime 2024-1 Trust, the Sapphire XXX Series 2024-2 Trust, the Turquoise II Series 2024-2 Trust and the Sapphire XXXI Series 2024-3 Trust.
The multidisciplinary team was headed by banking and financial services partner Andrew Jinks. He was supported by senior associate Rosalinda Harman and lawyers Nick de Bres and Jeremy U. The tax team also pitched in, led by Andrew Sommer, Keshni Maharaj and Peter Feros, as did the regulatory team headed by Steven Klimt.
Clayton Utz also guided Japanese listed integrated trading and business investment company Sumitomo Corporation as it entered into a joint venture with Mirvac on the Highforest residential development in West Pennant Hills.
This is Sumitomo’s inaugural investment into Australian real estate. The completed development will have 165 detached and attached houses as well as 249 apartments.
"Australia is an increasingly attractive destination for foreign investment, and this investment demonstrates both the opportunity of the Australian real estate market and the sophistication of Japanese investors like Sumitomo", lead partner Matt Anderson said.
Anderson worked with partners Eva Oraham, Lina Fischer, Kathy Santikos and Nick Thomas; special counsel Ben Pierce, Klay Brown and Tania Chahine; senior associate Richard Siou Cam San; and lawyer George Stribling.
