AMINZ picks new executive director
A seasoned Christchurch councillor takes over from the long-standing leader of the dispute-resolution professional organisation
Sue Wells has been named the executive director of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ), the organisation has announced.
Wells succeeds Deborah Hart, who has held the role since May 2008.
“We are thrilled to appoint Sue to the role, and look forward to working with her to build on the doubling of membership we have experienced over the past decade,” said Royden Hindle, AMINZ president.
A graduate of the University of Canterbury, Wells has served five terms as councillor of the city of Christchurch. She has also been in leadership positions in not-for-profit organisations, as well as an independent commissioner under the Resources Management Act. Wells has also worked as a presenter in radio and television.
“Ms Wells is a popular leader with a track record in managing change,” Hindle said. “Her experience in helping run complex organisations is already well known in Christchurch, and we look forward to benefiting from it in our national organisation.”
AMINZ is the peak body for professionals involved in dispute resolution in New Zealand.
