The legislation will be amended following its 2022 repeal
Luke Cunningham Clere (LCC) has elevated two of its lawyers to principal in a recent promotions round, reported the New Zealand Law Society.
Harriet Farquhar and Sean McCusker both ascended to the role of principal – Kaihautū. Farquhar’s practice focuses on public law; she has provided guidance to public bodies on matters involving powers and obligations.
She has acted for clients in judicial review proceedings, and her experience spans coronial inquests, regulatory matters and professional discipline. Moreover, Farquhar has represented the Crown in criminal proceedings.
McCusker’s practice covers public law, commercial and disciplinary proceedings. He has handled judicial reviews, commercial litigation, claims for damages under the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990, and proceedings for the Commissioner of Police under the Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act 2009. In addition, he has appeared before the District Courts, High Courts, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
The promotions cycle also saw the elevation of new senior associates:
Senior associate – Kaiwawao Mātāmua
Luke Claasen has represented clients before the District and High Courts. He is knowledgeable on matters involving the intersection of tikanga and the law, particularly in litigation and alternative disputes resolution.
Mark Shaw has appeared before the District Court, the High Court, and the Court of Appeal pm Crown prosecution matters. He has assisted on prosecutions for various central and local government organisations, as well as on regulatory and professional disciplinary concerns.
Senior associate – Rōia Mātāmua
George Fitzgerald has tackled Crown prosecution matters before the District Court. He also advises on regulatory and public law matters.
