He brings experience in policy development and project management
Former Motorsport New Zealand CEO Elton Goonan has joined the Resolution Institute as general manager for New Zealand.
Goonan brings to the table considerable experience with leading membership-based, not-for-profit organisations.
“Elton’s leadership and strategic insights will be invaluable as we continue to foster excellence within the dispute resolution community and provide meaningful value to our current, and future members”, Resolution Institute Vice-Chair Sarah Ramsay said.

At Motorsport New Zealand, Goonan crafted marketing and communication initiatives to bolster unity, spur membership growth, and improve stakeholder partnerships. He is an expert in strategic planning, policy development, and project management; he also launched an online membership platform and facilitated the ongoing development of training programmes geared towards officials.
He steered the company through the COVID-19 pandemic by collaborating with government agencies on protocols to facilitate the continuation of events, providing support to the 5,000 licence holders in Motorsport New Zealand.
Earlier in his career, Goonan was based in Europe for 15 years. He was a professional competitor in the UK and Sweden before transitioning to management positions. He has overseen race circuits in Europe and New Zealand, as well as motorsport teams and drivers.
He put together global events and crafted as well as executed sponsorship agreements. Moreover, he developed driver training and risk management programmes for commercial drivers after coming back to New Zealand.
Goonan has also worked with Federation Internationale de l'Automobile Committees and Commissions.
As the Resolution Institute’s GM for New Zealand, he will concentrate on growing the organisation’s training, accreditation, and professional development services.
