Clayton Utz coaches consortium on $1.2bn High Capacity Metro Trains project refinancing

Clayton Utz has coached the Evolution Rail consortium on the $1.2bn refinancing of the High Capacity Metro Trains project.

The consortium is made up of Plenary Group, Partners Group, Downer and CRRC Changchun. Funds will come from a large syndicate of investment and commercial banks across the APAC region.

According to lead partner Marcus Davenport, the debt package refinancing is “another step forward in the success of the project”. Once in operation, the High Capacity Metro Trains will take passengers through the new Metro Tunnel.

Davenport led Clayton Utz’s team in working on the deal alongside special counsel Annabelle Holcombe. They were supported by lawyer Rahul Krishna.

The High Capacity Metro Trains project has helped to enhance the Melbourne Metro train network. Clayton Utz has guided Evolution Rail since the project commenced.
